CityLine: January 5, 2000 -- City Hall
The City of White Plains and the White Plains Police Benevolent Association have agreed upon a new three year contract.
George Gretsas, Executive Officer for the Mayor, announced the tentative agreement to WPCNR Friday evening, saying the two sides in the dispute had come to an agreement paralleling settlements reached most recently with the Civil Service Employees Union. In that wage settlement the CSEA received 13.7% in raises over a four year contract, city agreement to pay 37% of the cost of dental benefits for all members of the union, regardless of whether they were in the plan.
Gretsas said both parties, the city and the WPBA, had agreed not to reveal terms of the police settlement until members of the union had approved the terms. Gretsas said it was a three year agreement and the police had achieved "the parity" they sought, without revealing details.
The city's Executive Officer said complete details would be presented Monday at City Hall.
