WPCNR PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE DAY. By the WPCNR Flying Roving Reporter. July 14, 2008: This is the White Plains skyline in the humid haze of Saturday in the friendly, virtually empty skies over White Plains. In days of yore, before $6.35 a gallon aviation gas, Saturday the skies would have been filled with Cessnas, Pipers, Mooneys and Bonanzas flying to who knows where. The airport activity at Westchester County Airport was very low key, with charters and scheduled jets the majority of takeoffs and landings, "nothing like the old days," one seasoned pilot recalls.
