It’s Christmas Eve at an old New England Inn. The merriment begins when two famous entertainers, Buddy Baker & Bill Brewer who had split up their act are both booked to headline the traditional holiday show at the Inn. The team of Baker and Brewer who have dominated the comic scene for the past twenty years have now decided to go solo, after almost coming to blows on stage. The famous duo appeared for the last time at the Roxie, where rumor has it that their legendary bickering finally did the partnership in.
When asked for a statement Baker sighted “Artistic Differences” as the cause for the break-up; however, Brewer was heard to say that Baker was a lunatic!! Along for the fun is Maxine, their long-time, wisecracking, business manager.
Also accompanying the feuding duo are various family members….Sam, Bill Brewer’s oldest son, who is a lawyer; John Bill’s youngest son, a college student in his early twenties; Linda Buddy’s oldest daughter who is in her early thirties, and a TV Anchor; Buddy’s younger daughter, a college student, and his youngest daughter Nicki, who is eleven years old. Enjoy a hilarious evening of holiday music, laughter, and a story of Christmas magic, as the families of the feuding stars try to get them to reunite and recreate the act which made Baker & Brewer famous. Performed by a Broadway cast, the show features all of your favorite Christmas music including an old-fashioned sing-along.
Ms Waldman, starring as Maxine, the wise-cracking manager, appeared 21 years ago at “An Evening Dinner Theatre,” the WBT's former venue as Lilianne LaFleur in the musical “Nine.” Prior to that, she spent 15 years performing in Broadway Musicals, most notably as Aldonza in “Man of La Mancha,” opposite Richard Kiley, Allan Jones, and Howard Keel. Suzyn was also a mainstay on the NYC nightclub scene in its heyday in the 70’s, and traveled the world with her Club Act. Ms Waldman dedicates her performance at WBT to Yankees pitcher Cory Ladle, who told her to “go for it” when she was offered the job
WBT also welcomes back Bob Amaral who will play the role of Buddy Baker. Bob last appeared in our production of “Good News” and later in the first “Holiday Extravaganza”.
