Mayor Sponsors "Saving Our Sons" Conference at WPPAC. Posted on Thursday, October 12 @ 13:51:48 EDT by jfbailey

Community WPCNR MAIN STREET JOURNAL. From The Mayor's Office. October 12, 2006: Mayor Joseph M. Delfino is pleased to announce that the White Plains Youth Bureau is sponsoring a Community Forum, Saving Our Sons II, featuring a panel of youth experts discussing the direction of community youth and how to steer them on the right course. The date is Thursday, October 26, 2006, 6:00 p.m. at the White Plains Performing Arts Center.

The aim of the program is to facilitate preparation for success among our youth.  With the theme, “Our Youth Our Future,” the forum will attempt to encourage community members to develop strategies, opportunities and connections to help youth reach their full potential.

"Our city is not a great city because of our downtown development; it
is a great city because we care about each other.  It is through our
School District, our community agencies,  and parents that we provide
each youth with tools and supports to compete in a global economy.
Saving Our Sons II is an effort to transform our youth into winners,"
stated Mayor Joseph Delfino.

The panelist for the Forum are: Timothy Connors, Superintendent, White
Plains School District, Pee Wee Kirkland, Famed NYC Sport Legend,
“Relentless Aaron”, Author & Writer, Marsha Gordon, Director of
the Westchester Business Council, Donovan Beckford, Director of One-Stop
Employment Center, Dr. Fred Smith, Assistant Superintendent of New
Rochelle School District, Rev. Erwin Trollinger, Pastor of Our Fathers
House, White Plains, New York, Dr. Byron Hargrove, Dean of Students,
Berkeley College, Sandra Bernabei, Undoing Racism Alliance, Marlene
Furtick, Director of Westchester County Youth Bureau and Youth Voices.

Admission is FREE, for tickets to the Forum, please contact the White
Plains Youth Bureau, 422-1378.
