WPCNR POLICE GAZETTE. October 11, 2006, UPDATED October 13, 2006 : Owen Lopez of Brooklyn was charged with Felony Grand Larceny in an attempt to rob the HSBC Bank Tuesday morning approximately 9 A.M. Deputy Commissioner of Public Safety Daniel Jackson reported on the attempt, describing the incident:
"A gentlemen arrived at HSBC Bank, 75 Mamaroneck Avenue and passed a note to a teller asking for money, basically. he did not threaten violence. Did not display any weapons. The teller followed bank procedures and handed something to him, a package to him. He then did not take the package. Stepped away from the teller and stood in the lobby of the bank until we arrived and arrested him. He's probably going to be charged with attempted robbery. We believe he's got some emotional issues but the detectives are still interviewing him now to see what we're dealing with. He has not been charged yet."
Jackson announced Lopez had been charged Friday afternoon, and mentioned Lopez might also be wanted by the New York Police Department for a similar case.
Asked about the Ferris Avenue shooting last month where a man was shot in the stomach, but survived, Jackson said there was nothing new to report on the investigation.
