WPCNR MR. & MRS. & MS. WHITE PLAINS VOICE. August 25, 2006: Cass Cibelli upon learning of the Westchester County action taking back a $2 Million grant to developer Martin Ginsburg to build the 260 Main Street Affordable Housing project, is aghast:
Dear Mr. Bailey,
What is apparent after attending the work session of the common council meeting at city hall last night is that the arrogance of county government is in your face, and if you do not hold the line, it will cost you. By dumping GDC's application for a $2M grant from the Westchester County IDA, County government has taken yet another step to kill the affordable piece necessary for the development of the Pinnacle project. The developer is out 2 million dollars, and while Westchester County and its lackeys continue to play politics with affordable housing we are forced to wait and see whether construction on this critical project will ever begin.
The fact that Mr. Power, whose salary is paid for through IDA administrative fees, even debated this issue is clearly a conflict. Mr. Power cannot continue to serve two masters, and the interests of White Plains residents are too important to not have an independent voice. As long as Mr. Power remains helplessly loyal to Westchester County, he cannot serve the needs of White Plains .
I say put White Plains residents first.
Respectfully,
Cass Cibelli
