WPCNR MR. & MRS. & MS. WHITE PLAINS VOICE. August 14, 2006: A reader has a different view of the Hockley-Malmud exchange in July's Common Council meeting:
If you had been watching Ms. Malmud's career long enough, he'd know that she is always polite, even in the repeated instances of extremely degrading comments she recieves from our mayor. I once asked her how she did it, because I personally thought that if review and editing had been done from footage of past Common Council meetings through the years and you put together all the clips of times that the Myor was degrading to Ms. Malmud, no woman would ever vote for him.

Ms Malmud relpied, "I just let it roll of me like water on a duck's back," and no, I've never seen her lose her sense of propriety during a political or issue-based argument, sometimes to a fault.
If you think that Mr Hockley's demeanor lets you know where he stands on issues, I can guarantee that he was a different man prior to last November's elections or I wouldn't have voted for him.
Mr Hockley, where were all those wonderful things you were going to do to keep the outlook great for the White Plains taxpayers?
Maybe you didn't notice that he told the voters about 5 ideas he had to improve things for White plains taxpayers and none of them involved destroying woods to fill a hole in our budget and help support the out-of control development going on. If it was controlled, we'd be able to hang onto the woods in our outer neighborhoods.
No, we didn't know where he (Hockley) stood at all.
