WPCNR MR. & MRS. & MS. WHITE PLAINS VOICE. August 1, 2006: A reader responds to a housing advocate's support of the senior housing project on Court Street and Quarropas:
So, Mr. Power is planning on hiding behind his campaign manager on the issue of where his loyalty truly lies. Mr. Schwarz can skirt the issue all he likes for the sake of protecting Dennis Power and the County Administration that he is part and parcel of.

The truth is that this matter is supported by many within the County Board, most notably Legislators Oros, Abinanti, Burroughs, and Swanson. This is about Bill Ryan and the County changing laws, breaking their charter, and denying the City the opportunity that they legally are required to give, which is the right of first refusal.
Mr. Cibelli correctly notes that the County is changing a law that will forever change the relationship between Westchester County and the towns, cities, and villages that make the County what it is. Affordable housing for seniors is as noble a cause as I can think of, but the idea that we have it at any cost is rediculous.
To take the decision about what goes at that site and give it to Westchester County, which has a spotty record at best at development, is shameful and sets a dangerous precedent.
The irony is that Mr. Scwarz was the Campaign Manager for a failed run at the Mayor's seat. He should look at himself in the mirror when he decides to cast stones against those he perceives to be bitter about winning and losing elections. Cibelli's argument would be sad, were it not true. However, there is nothing more sad than the County giving away property in WP to Andy's friends for 1/10 the value, then allowing friends to make money representing them.
Hey, Dennis - thanks for supporting the County against the City of White Plains.
How many times can we expect this from you?
