Critic of Common Council for Not Attending Israel Support Rally Scolded. Posted on Wednesday, July 26 @ 23:32:39 EDT by jfbailey

Toast of the Town!

WPCNR MR. & MRS. & MS. WHITE PLAINS VOICE. July 27, 2006: A reader defends The White Plains Times and WPCNR and Common Council members, for not appearing at the Temple Israel support Israel rally Tuesday evening:

Mr. Bailey, In defense of you, the Common Council and our own home grown media press in White Plains (White Plains Times), I would like to unequivocally inform your reader about the politics, representation and press in White Plains relating to our American allies, Israel and local population.

Relating to global foreign affairs and our association (White Plains Citizens) to the war on any foreign soil it would be most inappropriate and undiplomatic for any local government or Common Council representative to take a personal public global political position and opinion on a non related jurisdictional issue of White Plains representing themselves or White Plains. An official position that is, in support or against any political issue non-related to the issues of White Plains and our citizens. Personally yes, publicly no!

I have dear Jewish friends with families and children in Israel, so if I don’t go to Temple, Church or Synagogue, in protest I’m an anti Jew supporter. Nonsense!

Our Common Council and our own press are not in the business of, nor should they be in the business of taking a position and opinion on any war or foreign issue.  Our elected officials represent the citizens of White Plains not Israel, or any other foreign global issue and affair.  No American supports terrorists, but hopefully support the right for all human beings to exist regardless of what land they occupy, die and shed their blood for.

I certainly don’t support terrorists; I don’t support the killing and taking of human life over land, economics, political agendas, historical hate, secular superiority, military occupation, the destruction of children and innocent civilians. That is my opinion, a personal opinion, and one that may differ from yours critics or anyone else. If I decide to go to a Temple and publicly support or not support a secular issue that is my personal desire. Not one that is your critics concern, weather I’m an elected representative, local press or just a citizen in White Plains.

It is not for someone else to decide and hold me or our Common Council, press or White Plains citizens in contempt of by your unidentified angry critic.

I find myself in complete disagreement with your critic Mr. Bailey; assuming that our elected representatives and press have an obligation to personally and publicly take a position on any global issue or cover it as a mandatory obligation: Make a public appearance and expect our Common Council member Glen Hockley, or Mayor Delfino to set a standard for all others to follow.

And “The other party leaders of White Plains should be ashamed of themselves, for not coming out to support the only democratic state in the Mid-East. Your critic is the one shammed on, not our absent Common Council members, or press.

This is a sad day in White Plains when this critic assumes he can make his or her personal political issue a White Plains political issue and denounce all that may not share the same views, snub their attitude at WPCNR, the Common Council and the local press. Assuming they hold the superiority pedestal of gifted knowledge and righteousness.

This critic should be ashamed of him or herself for not showing up here on your site Mr. Bailey, with a name to associate his distaste for other persons' views, opinions and perspectives.  This critic needs to practice what the preacher attempts to teach.
