WPCNR MR. & MRS. & MS. WHITE PLAINS VIEWS. July 18, 2006: The reader who published a photo last week showing the 221 Main Ritz-Carlton dominating the skyline at the intersection of "Longview and Stratford Avenues" writes:
Many digital cameras' automatic settings naturally bring up the foreground and recess the background. Which is why in WPCNR's shot of Longview, 221 Main is diminished.
But that is NOT what the eye sees.
The photos I've submitted compensate for lens distortion to portray what the human eye sees from the heart of the Highlands.

WPCNR RESPONDS: Mr. Hacohen admitted to WPCNR he zoomed in, which was all my photograph attempted to show. Mr. Hacohen's photograph does not show any relationship to the the actual Stratford and Longview Avenue intersection view. The WPCNR photograph shows the horizon in relationship perspective, foreshortened or not. Had Mr. Hacohen simply written this is the photograph of what the horizon is from mid Longview, more actually to the West side of the Longview street I would not have had a problem with it.
