WPCNR MR. & MRS. & MS. WHITE PLAINS VOICE. July 17, 2006: A reader writes that Dennis Power has community support:
John,
The tenor and type of comments you are chosing to run reflect a perceived shift towards doing the bidding of the "superdeveloper" and his lackeys at City Hall. I understand evenhandedness and accuracy in reporting but it seems like you are bending over backward to portray Dennis in a negative light as well as finding the "tall building" sighting way above traditional tree line security as a non issue when suburban property values depend upon there being no tall buildings looming large above the tree lines from the street sighting or the backyard view. Even Brooklyn has a limit at 16 stories now. The sight is both ugly and frightening. I know from studies (see/google San Jose, Calif and Los Angeles etc.) that suburban residential values suffer when tall buildings are introduced into the line of sight of the residence where none were before. Again, no proper planning went into this decision and again, this debacle shows the need for a comprehensive plan which means something.
Just my 2 cents.
