WPCNR MR. & MRS. & MS. WHITE PLAINS VOICE. June 20, 2006: "Dr. Stockman" -- the always environmentally sensitive watchdog on White Plains writes:
John,
Your poll poses some interesting issues. For all those who vote against the clean up, ask yourselves this question: What good can come from leaving the toxic chemicals in the dump, which is surrounded by residences and schools? What good can come from leaving the toxic waste at the dump when it leaches into the Mam'k River, water table and eventually into the Sound and when the increasingly heavy rains cause floods presumably carrying this stuff off site and into residential streets? AND perchance when the new owners of the sold off Railside properties begin to sue White Plains for nondisclosure of the contamination of the site and for negligence and damages, what good can come from that? Why not get grant monies and subsidies to clean it up and be done with it? Only good can come from that.
What's the motive behind the negative voting?
