WPCNR POLL. April 7, 2006: The City of White Plains delivered the budget to the Common Council Monday, after having sessions with news media on the contents of that venerable tombstone, the 2006-2007 Proposed Budget book. Requests by other media for copies of the budget prediscussed with individual reporters before the Council was presented with the numbers were met with reports from brusque city media mouthpieces that if persons wanted a copy of the budget, other than the Common Council, copies of the budget could only be purchased for $25, and that the budget was available in the White Plains Public Library and at the City Clerk's office for while-you-wait viewing.
All others requesting their own copy, possibly collectors of city history, have to pay $25 cash or check. Today James Benerofe purchased his copy for $25 and demonstrated it on White Plains Week, including the receipt issued by the Budget Department.

For his $25 he got shrink-wrapped stacked pages. Not even the usual sexy green and white cover. Now, do Mr. and Mrs. and Ms. White Plains believe you should pay $25 for your own budget copy? It certainly would help out a little bit with the deficit the city is running at first glance at the 2006-2007 budget. Vote in the poll at the right.
