Former Mayor Notes Bleak White Plains Outlook. Posted on Saturday, April 01 @ 08:00:00 EST by jfbailey

Toast of the Town!

WPCNR MR. & MRS. & MS. WHITE PLAINS VOICE. April 1, 2006 : Mayor Alfred Del Vecchio takes a long range view of where White Plains is headed:

In Response to Don (Hughes)

You're forgetting that this city administration is "developer friendly" while exploiting taxpayer's fixed assets as well as his pocketbook. That, in a nutshell, is the engine that's driving this city.

It will take time, but once these assets are depleted and we are up to our armpits in debt, White Plains will come to the realization that the fires of our economic growth have been fed with the nourishment that sustains the quality of life of the people who inhabit this city.

Of course we will continue to survive in the future but it will become more and more painful. In the end, those who survive will get used to it and life will go on.

My advice is to put a stop to this insanity by whatever means we have at our disposal, now, and get on with some constructive plans for the future. Otherwise we just have to wait until the city hits bottom and then rebuild.

                                                                    Alfred Del Vecchio
