WPCNR WHITE PLAINS POLL. MARCH 27, 2006: Saturday a rally was held to protest the sail of 9 Railside Avenue lots, the expected sale of which is expected to bring the city about $3 Million which is plugged in to the 2005-2006 budget. Should the Common Council reverse its thinking, about $3 Million would have to be found out of next year's budget to avoid dipping into the city fund balance to pay for the lack of expected revenue. A million dollars of expense is equivalent of a 3% tax increase, meaning that a mandatory tax increase of 9% is required if the city reverses itself and does not sell of the Railside Avenue land "asset." What does Mr. and Mrs. White Plains think the Common Council should do? Reject the sale? Or sell anyway?
