WPCNR MR. & MRS. & MS. WHITE PLAINS VOICE. March 23, 2006: A driver comments on the 2.76 a gallon for regular gas prices making their ugly debut in White Plains this week (when crude oil barrell price was down):
When gas prices in WP went up 6 cents on March 21st, they exceeded prices in nearby Eastchester by 10 cents a gallon! In the North Bronx, part of expensive NYC, gas prices were lower than White Plains by 14 cents a gallon. Can someone tell me why this is the case. Is it WP city taxes on gasoline? This is emblematic of the problems that now exist in WP. Our taxes are climbing at every turn with no increase in services. I have lived in this city for 22 years and at this point in time, I am the most pessimistic on my city than ever. This despite all the renewal that has taken place in downtown. Go figure...
