WPCNR MR. & MRS. & MS. WHITE PLAINS VOICE. March 21, 2006: A reader with experience on jury duty in the Westchester County Courthouse, scene of Ben Hider's interrogation Friday morning by New York Court Police, says the Court Police do not treat the public with respect or courtesy:
John,
It should be noted that the Court Police have a reputation as being a rather
unfriendly bunch.

When I performed jury service last year, nearly all of my fellow panel members remarked
about how rudely they were treated by Court Police "guarding" the parking areas,
including not being allowed to slot their cars into areas clearly allocated
for jury parking, even though they had valid ID and proof of juror summons.
What a shame considering the time (and in many cases) money jurors have to forfeit in order to service their civic duty.
Maybe it's time to lobby our Council to create a rule empowering jurors to park
anywhere for free in any municipal lot during their time of service?
