WPCNR MR. & MRS. & MS. WHITE PLAINS VOICE. May 20, 2006: Ben Hider further clarifies how his frisking and detaining by New York Courts Police Friday morning (See "Photographer Investigated for Terrorism", previously published), went down.:
This is new posting by officer Jackson is not an accurate description of
what happened. I have been very grateful to Inspector Jackson for his
honesty, integrity and support. However, on the day of the incident, I
contacted him to ask about gaining a press pass as officer 2047 had advised
me to speak with the White Plains police for such accreditation.
He (Jackson) began to
question me about the officers involved in the incident, and at the time I
had no badge number. He told me that he would be very surprised if it was one
of his officers, but did not confirm or deny either way, as I had NO BADGE
NUMBER.
As of writing to WPCNR on Sunday night, I had not spoken to officer
Jackson but had left him a message on Friday at 2pm with the officer's badge
number. He had not responded, and therefore my letter merely repeated what
the officer had told me after my picture had been taken - that "White Plains
is now done with you, we just need to wait for the County Terrorism unit to
complete the questioning"
I thank this website for the interest in this case. I see that the anonymous
article has now named me as the person involved in the questioning. There
will be further information on the Journal News tomorrow.
Thank you
Ben
