WPCNR MR. & MRS. & MS. WHITE PLAINS VOICE. February 24, 2006: A New Orleans resident who lost her home to Hurricane Katrina and has been living in White Plains pens this note of thanks:
During the recent hurricanes I was visiting friends in the area and stayed here when I realized I had no "home" to go back to. There are several families from New Orleans here and we are all adjusting as well as possible. The city of White Plains has been great in providing housing and activities for us, but now that are immediate needs are met we realize we are great lacking in social activities for adults. Because we only know a limited number of adults, we spend most of our time with our children and we are going crazy. I'm sending out this email to many people in the White Plains area hoping to find others whom we have something in common with who would be willing to help us become better acquainted with the people and places of the area. Please respond if you could help!!
