WPCNR MR. & MRS. & MS. WHITE PLAINS VOICE.February 5, 2006: A reader reacts to an early comment on the charging of a parent by White Plains in an alleged teenage drinking party held January 21:
John,
I am absolutely, positively shocked at the statements put forth by "Anonymous" in yesterday's article.
The writer basically fails to realize that underage drinking is, well, duh, ILLEGAL.
What message are we sending our children? That it is OK to break the law...just don't get caught? Apparently so.
Sure people are going to party, people are going to drink. People are also going to steal, people are going to speed down the street and people are going to run red lights. Just because a certain group of parents condone this behavior does not make it right; and all these things are ILLEGAL.
As parents, it is our duty and responsibility to teach our kids the right values. Breaking the law is not OK as long as you do not get caught.
