WPCNR MR. & MRS. & MS. WHITE PLAINS VOICE. January 20, 2006: At this hour 2:45 P.M.Westchester County and Con Edison and New York Electric & Gas are holding a news conference in White Plains on the status of the restoration of power after Wednesday's blackout -- A Gedney area correspondent reports some power has been restored to the Gedney Farms area in White Plains:
Gedney power has come back ON!!
Gedney power has been restored (at least on Hotel and Gedney Esplanade) as of about 1:15 p.m. Thank you John for all your reporting and keeping us as up to date as possible.
It's amazing that the mayor's office has no p.r. dept to alert the Citizens as to what is happening in our fair town. If we have an emergency, how is the info to be disseminated to the populace? Why don't we have a emergency information activation system, that is either reported by loop tape or live operator, with hourly updates?
This way the populace can be kept apprised without flooding impt. phone #s with calls for info. With the warming of the climate and weather becoming much more severe in the coming years and with the old growth trees in the area now suffering from annual summer drought conditions (which weakens root systems and root support) more severe wind conditions will occur/more "wild"strorms and more trees will come down, ruining more power lines.
What are we doing to be proactive to meet the exegencies of the day? Where is the leadership? Where is our Council President? Where are the consultations/hearings/meetings/p.r. for these now-becoming-common weather events and municipal emergency planning? Now is the time to act!!!
Once again, Thank You John for your coverage and timely news releases.
