WPCNR MR. & MRS. & MS. WHITE PLAINS VOICE. December 21, 2005: A reader observing the flirtation the Common Council is having with denying Arnold Bernstein his turn as Council President, notes:
Mr. Bailey it’s “Party Time” again,
Like any good “party” there’s always someone who steals the show, in this case a party crasher as well!
Once again Mr. Bailey I disagree with you here, Ha, there is no “Common Council palace coup in process” as if this is some new dictatorial conceptual grab for the power of the next Common Council President. It’s just the same old games with the same old tricks controlling the Common Council’s thoughts.
Unequivocally this is a one-person masterminded manipulation controlling the thinking power and the voting process of the Common Council members for individual personal political gain. A self serving interest, serving one person's own best interest, In my opinion not in the best interest of the city and clearly not in the best interest of Mr. Arnold Bernstein, nor the Common Council.
Mrs. Malmud is arrogantly disrespectful of Mr. Bernstein and has likely influenced every Common Council Member except Hockley and Bernstein to vote for her, or else! Is Mrs. Malmud not aware she held the President position as you state two or three times along with the increase of salary that goes along with it as well? Is greed and power her motivation? Is the public seeing this behavior on the local level as well having the Common Council secure her personal financial and political greed? Shame on you Mrs. Malmud!
What an embarrassment to the Democratic Party and a personal insult to Mr. Bernstein. I guess this is Mrs. Malmud’s gift giving, payback, a way of saying thank you to Mr. Bernstein during the holiday season after Mr. Bernstein served as her campaign manager for two prior elections. Securing her ego and position on the Common Council. Of course the question will always be raised in defense of Mrs. Malmud by Mrs. Malmud, is Mr. Bernstein qualified and should he be the next Mayor in the event Mr. Joe Renaissance Mayor has to step down? It will be a cold day in hell before that happens. Mr. Mayor is here to stay!
Let the Common Council not forget when it goes up for the vote everyone else had their due respected office of the Presidency, were you qualified any less or more then Mr. Bernstein? Ponder that thought before you cast your vote.
So the question is, will Mr. Boykin vote Rita? Will Roach Vote Rita? Will Greer Vote Rita? Will the Mayor vote Rita? Of course Bernstein and Hockley clearly are voting Rita, did I forget anyone? Yes I did, will Rita vote Rita or Bernstein?
My prediction, Mrs. Malmud’s supporters on the Common Council just might come to their senses and wake up from their political coma and think independently, vote independently, and do the right thing for the right reason for a change. If I offended anyone I sincerely apologize, Mr. Bernstein you need not to, Mrs. Malmud you should consider doing so.
