WPCNR MR. & MRS. & MS. WHITE PLAINS VOICE. November 9, 2005: A reader analyzes the registration communication gap demonstrated by Tuesday's results:
If one thing the Democrats should have learned by now is that if you run a “Chicken Little” campaign the sky actually has to be falling. Obviously W.P. voters took a look around there city and thought “wow”, things are actually progressing here. More jobs, new entertainment, great restaurants, new supermarkets, more recreational parks and greenways and of course shopping. Have taxes gone up? Where have they not gone up? W.P arguably still offers the best services in Westchester County to its residents for what they pay.

Anyone who knows what the Democrat/Republican ratio of registered voters in W.P. is also knows that many Democrat voters crossed over party lines and voted for Mayor Joe last night. They didn’t buy into their own party’s version of what has happened in W.P. in the past 8 years. Forget the “underfunded grassroots” campaign, the “unknown” candidate (whose fault is that?), and the other excuses for losing. When your message cannot reach your own majority party your campaign has a serious problem. Perhaps that is why Bill Ryan took a pass this year.
Congratulations Mayor Joe on another 4 years, we wish you the best of luck.
Sincerely,
