WPCNR MR. & MRS. & MS. WHITE PLAINS VOICE. November 9, 2005: A reader ponders the Delfino blowout on Election Day, and analyzes what it means:
The Voters Choices 2005 – The Morning After
Mr. Bailey, so what is it that we really have here as we the citizens of White Plains move forward into the next city administration. What will be remembered, what will be forgotten from Election Day November 8, 2005?
Probably not much will be remembered but what will not be forgotten is that our Honorable Mayor Joe Delfino and respected Councilmen Larry Delgado ran a dignified respected clean honest campaign that the citizens of White Plains supported. The Mayor’s respected dignity - integrity a victory that will never be defeated or forgotten in the eyes of the voters. Yet to be seen or should I say has already happened here on your site less then 24 hours later is the continuing effort to discredit the integrity of the Mayor.
“ Silly you John you’re just printing words straight from the George Bush spin Machine, 58%-42% is not a mandate.”
Let us not forget that a full 60% said no to the Power negative camp campaign bashing the Mayor for his partnership achievements with the collective Common Council. Respected Common Council members representing all the citizens in White Plains over the last eight years. Moving forward together we need to set aside our difference as a community and heal the wounds of anger and embrace our future as a city to be proud of, as a city with a government to be proud of. White Plains will be remembered as a city working together to make White Plains a better place for our children, families and generations to come. Our newly elected Mayor and Common Council Members are committed four the next four years to complete a successful future for all of us here in White Plains. White Plains will be remembered for, citizens, government and leadership all working together for the best interest of all. A positive!
Congratulations - thank you,
Mr. Mayor, Larry Delgado, Tom Roach, Arnold Bernstein, Rita Malmud, Robert Greer,
Benjamin Boykin, William King, and Glen Hockley.
