Reader's Comments
I just wanted to compliment you on your unbiased reporting of the Bradley-Matusow election. It is a pleasure to deal with a member of the press who has no agenda other than disseminating the facts to the public. You have been the only media covering this race who has done that. My compliments to you for a job well done.

Reader Thinks Affordable Housing Story Tip of Iceberg. Posted on Tuesday, November 01 @ 18:44:41 EST by jfbailey

Toast of the Town!

WPCNR MR. & MRS. & MS. WHITE PLAINS VOICE. November 1, 2005, UPDATED WITH A RESPONSE November 2, 11:24 P.M.: A reader responds on the Affordable Housing High Cost Story:

You are on to a real story about politicians throwing money around with no real knowledge of what they are doing.

Dig into the $7 million dollar HUD grant that the developer of Franklin/Windsor had earmarked for WP about 5 years ago...the City dragged its feet at every turn and the money went to Mt. Vernon.  The Pettinicchi property should have had 70 units a fraction of the current per unit cost.

But, of course, that individual was not an "insider".

Anyway, good, well researched story...KUDOS

(Response Comment follows)

WP CITIZEN WRITES:

I may be mistaken, but wasn't that Franklin/Windsor developer Gene Conroy? He is considered a political "outsider"?  And I also believe that the HUD grant mentioned was site specific for the old Post Office building, and Westchester County delayed its turnover until the funds were lost. Do your readers a service and look into it instead of throwing up innuendos on your site.

And who is Joseph Manzini, Al DelVecchios' son-in law or something? Sure gets a lot of time to moan. Almost as much airtime as Al.
