Mayor's Minutiae Gaffe and Hunt for Volunteers Criticised. Posted on Sunday, October 23 @ 08:49:25 EDT by jfbailey

Toast of the Town!

WPCNR MR. & MRS. & MS. WHITE PLAINS VOICE. October 23, 2005:  Two observers of last week's Mayoral debates comment on volunteer arm-twisting by the Mayor's Campaign Manager (where volunteers at the White Plains Performing Arts Center were recruited to do volunteer work for the Mayor's campaign as reported by The Journal News) and the Mayor's alleged remark labeling citizen issues as "minutiae" remark at last week's debate.

I was enraged to read in the news this morning on Mayor Delfino's illegal use of the White Plains Performing Arts Council (a nonprofit) to campaign for him. Following his use of on-duty White Plains Police for his own ads and calling resident problems "minutiae" at the debate is evidence of the culture of corruption we see on the national level.

Of course, just as our President has always done, the Delfino campaign has passed the buck on every issue they might ever have fault with. Accountability is nonexistent with Delfino. Photo ops and chest beating is.

I won't have that in White Plains and neither should any law-abiding citizen. Karl Rove doesn't live here and never will. If Delfino thinks he can get away with his Republican dealings here, he'll be very surprised on November 8th when he's packing his bags.
Lois Parker

Letter Two:

After attending the recent mayoral debate, where Mayor Delfino referred to our city’s serious problems as “minutiae,” it’s obvious he doesn’t hold a candle to Dennis Power when it comes to addressing —and solving— parking, traffic, and communications issues facing White Plains.
Delfino’s words were “minutiae.” “silly,” and solid plans for our future, “gave him a chuckle.” He showed a weak attempt to dismiss modern ideas for our growing city. Seems the man can only think in terms of construction. Not of people.
“Minutiae?”
That’s exactly how I’ll see his whole candidacy this election day.

Joseph R. Manzini, Sr.
