WPCNR MR. & MRS. & MS. WHITE PLAINS VIEWS. October 17, 2005: A reader comments on John Carlson's News Conference and concern about city finances:
John Carlson has it right about the "Enron like atmosphere" in City Hall. The Mayor sets the tone, and our weak council follows the pied piper to the draining of WP city dollars out of the taxpayers pocketbooks.
C'mon folks, the mayor allows illegal valet parking, plastic pipes for the developers, and refuses to show the financials to the community which could hurt his election bid.

Many people say the mayor is a nice guy, and the council people are nice folks. I don’t want a nice guy as mayor, or a nice guy as councilperson. Liking the person is not important to my wallet, school system, and safety in our shopping malls.
I urge all citizens to wake up and see that we have major issues that our current mayor refuses to acknowledge. As educated adults we know that voting for the person because he's a member of your club, church, or political party is not voting with our sensible brain. Sometimes we must step back and realize we are hurting ourselves when we vote by feelings.
Let us vote for the person who will stop our taxes from rising, and stop our schools from losing valuable funding as the businesses in the city get rebates, and downtown gets choked so much that no one will want to shop here.
I want a fiscal responsible person in city leadership. Local elections do not need to be decided by party line. This voter will cross party lines at election time.
Dennis Power is not the same political party as John Carlson, but both have professional backgrounds in finance, and will therefore have my vote.
