WPCNR MR. & MRS. & MS. WHITE PLAINS VOICE. JULY 5, 2005: The murder in The Galleria last Thursday afternoon, allegedly committed by a homeless person dropped off by Westchester County from their Drop-In Shelter at Westchester County Airport, who was a Level 3 Sex Offender, and served time, has been raised as an issue by the Westchester County District Attorney. Authorities have questioned how such an offender could be simply turned loose on the streets.
This raises a question of whether the comings and goings and whereabouts of potentially dangerous and homeless persons and families alike should be monitored more closely than they are.
Should the homeless carry idenitification passes, or "Homeless Passports" with them, identifying them as homeless persons, and should they be issued such passes by the County or whatever social agency cares for them?
When arriving in any city in the county or across the nation for that matter, should them register with the local police as to how they plan to spend time in the city?
One suicide of a homeless person and one random murder (allegedly committed by a homeless person) in the same facility in White Plains in 16 months would seem to indicate these persons do not know what to do with themselves during the day.
