WPCNR MR. & MRS. & MS. WHITE PLAINS VOICE. JUNE 23, 2005. Former Mayor of White Plains Alfred Del Vecchio shares this observation upon learning White Plains ranks as the 45th Most Expensive Place to Live in the Country.
The Mercer Human Resources Consulting firm has calculated that White Plains ranks 45th. out of 144 most expensive cities to live in. The cities surveyed were where the firm has clients. It does this as a service to provide reliable information for determining compensation packages for its employees.
The survey showed that the cost-of-living increased 4.72% in White Plains-- while the social security cost-of-living adjustment only increased 2.7% or 74.8% higher than the SS adjustment. Also, the 4% increase for the police and fire unions is 15.25% lower than the 4.72% increase in the White Plains cost-of-living. Canyon city, where the sun never rises, is moving right along.
