WPCNR MR. & MRS. & MS. WHITE PLAINS VOICE. June 12, 2005: A new era will begin July 1st when James Kenny takes over as only the second Executive Director of White Plains Cable Television Commission. Mr. Kenny is an expert in robotic television coverage in Rye City Television, (where no camerapersons are used to cover council meetings), gives White Plains a real opportunity to bring cameras into city hall where they have never gone before.
You could install stationary cameras in the the Mayor's Conference Room, the Common Council Chamber. Think what this could mean. You, Mr. and Mrs. and Ms. White Plains can see unfolding in the Mayor's Conference Room for those very revealing red hot bicker and snicker and anguish Common Council Work Sessions. See $2,000-dollar suited sultans of progress pitch, plead and beg the council and give up to the minute progress reports -- the kind of juicy tabloid material only reporters who can stay awake get to see, and citizens who can fit into the Mayor's Conference room can see.
With Mr. Kenny's expertise, you could also conceivably televise those meetings that really determine the course of neighborhoods and the city: The Planning Board, the Zoning Board, the Traffic Commission.
What does Mr. and Mrs. and Ms. White Plains think? Should The Delfino Administration make Government Access do what few other governents do? Should Planning Board, Zoning Board, Common Council Work Sessions, Recreation Commission, and other commissions be televised regularly with stationary robotic cams and mikes? Vote "Yes" or "No." Tell City Hall to open it up or keep it shut down.
You could also have a City Hall Cam over the entrance to the Mayor's Office, showing who visits the Mayor's Office daily. A complete new Cable Network -- White Plains City Hall Channel might be born. But, we are ahead of ourselves here. First, vote in the survey at the right!
