WPCNR MR. & MRS. & MS. AMERICA VOICE. May 27, 2005: A reader from Virginia, has written Fox News, The CitizeNetReporter and media personality Bill Bevins, saying he is outraged at the Gold Star Mothers' denial of membership to a mother (not a citizen) whose son was killed in Iraq. Here is their comment:
Good Day,
In reference to the "American Gold Star Mothers," denial of membership to Ligaya Lagman, we should all be appalled that an organization that purports to be a "Veteran's Service Organization" and on its website states that it is "An Organization Chartered by Congress and/or Recognized by VA for Claim Representation" has denied acceptance of the mother of an American hero into its ranks. Perhaps all the mothers who are part of this organization should reconsider their "membership," as well, and Congress should reconsider their support and federal funding for it. If fighting for this nation, and offering up your son or daughter as a sacrifice does not constitute citizenship, then a piece of paper that does so means nothing. I will e-mail every one of my Congressional representatives. How shameful they should be, citing that they "can't change the rules every time the wind blows."
No response necessary, I just wanted to share my thoughts.
