WPCNR MR. & MRS. & MS. WHITE PLAINS VOICE. MAY 23, 2005: A reader lauds Mr. Hockley's contributions in the past:
Dear John:
Did you really not know the other aspects of Glen's civic and community
activities? "Until now"? Your headline suggests that this comes as a
surprise to you. Glen has been very involved in Holocaust education for a
number of years.
Perhaps this is part of the reason that I e-mailed you, or posted comments,
several times last fall, urging you to take a less strident tone in
criticizing him, frequently using the word, "usurper." Glen is a
hard-working, civic minded individual who gives 110% to several causes.
And in the current common council election cycle, I believe even Larry
Delgado has asked us all to see this as a six-person race, and not a
one-on-one rematch.
(I looked in vain for a way to post a "response" to the article on the
site.)
-----------------------------------------
Incidentally, I will look on Wednesday morning to see how quickly your
sources give you a rundown on tomorrow night's Democratic city committee
meeting.
I never did find the bug you must have planted in our dining room.

The Editor Replies: Due to abuse of free-flow posting, WPCNR has had to eliminate comments by article. Letters may be sent to editor@whiteplainscnr.com. I review them for comments in poor taste and post accordingly. The editor welcomes your comments.
On the matter of use of the word "usurper," that is a legal term used in the quo warranto statute, and did not reflect any aspersions on Mr. Hockley, and that was the sole reason it was used in CNR stories.
The editor would welcome with pleasure a personal report from you on the Democratic City Committee meeting Tuesday evening on what promises to be an historic occasion, if no candidate for Mayoral Office is nominated.
