WPCNR WHITE PLAINS VOICE. September 28, 2004: A White Plains High School coach, has asked that their following commentary be published anonymously. Their comment concerns the recent decision by the White Plains Board of Educatioin not to rescind Athletic Director Mario Scarano's retirement, and not to allow him to continue in the Athletic Director postion:
I have been a coach at WPHS for more than 10 years coaching more than 1 sport a season. I am saddened, disgusted, and nauseated by the railroading of Mr. Scarano.
I have NEVER seen a person work harder at his/her job in whatever field of endeavor they have chosen. The iron fist of the President of the Board slammed down on Scarano in retaliation for challenges to her ego and the fact that her daughter is apparently a sub-par softball player.
I wish other would see this for what it is; a thinly veiled effort to have personal grudges overshadow the untiring efforts of Mr. Scarano.
We will NEVER find another person that will work as hard or get as much positive acheivements accomplished in this district.
These are sad days for the City of White Plains. I hope all of your readers will join me in mourning for our students.
