WPCNR WHITE PLAINS VOICE. From a reader. August 25, 2004: A reader draws attention to what he or she refers to as the White Plains homeless problem:
Joe Delfino focused all of his efforts on White Plains becoming "The Rennaissance" and giving Capelli every last dollar the city has, but he has given no attention to the homeless problem.
White Plains has become the "hub of the homeless" and Joe being a former County Legislature should know how the county designated White Plains the dumping ground for the homeless.
It is quite sad that White Plains politicans do nothing to try and offset some of these homeless problems with other municiplaities contributing there fair shair. Just ask the homeless people on the street where they came from. You will get answers like NYC, Yonkers, New Rochelle, ect....
If you want to see how many homeless we really have check the corner of Quarropas/ Grove st(MLK) at 7:30 pm and 10:30pm. That is a pickup point for the drop off shelter that is bused in at 6:00am and picked up in the evening.
Come on Joe do something to clean up this problem and stop worring about a flaming clock or how many high rises we will have in the city.
